Hoarfrost

Medium all: Sharpie

I've recently started a quote book, it's a journal I found at my local thrift store that only had one or two pages written in. It's thick and has a red cover with Chinese characters all over it. It's a poem, that reads:
I wake and moonbeams play around my bed
Glittering like hoarfrosts to my wandering eyes
Upwards the glorious moon I raise my head
Then lay me down and thoughts of home arise
--Night Thoughts by Li Bai of the Tang Dynasty

With it I've filled in already about twenty-plus pages with many words.
Words are amazing things, and I am, thankfully, always learning more of them or about them. Take hoarfrost - never heard or read it before this poem.

Hoarfrost :::
hoar-frost
noun -- origin: 1250–1300; Middle English hor-frost.
Also called: white frost a deposit of needle-like ice crystals formed on the ground by direct condensation at temperatures below freezing point

Interesting huh? I thought it'd be more than that but it's still a awesome word to say, more fun then icy... =).

I'm sorry about not posting, after getting power back on after five days because of the snow and ice storms, there was much clean up and things to get done before play. I am also house sitting for some friends who have two small dogs that need lots of people love (but can't come here because my dogs would eat them up in a second) and I don't have internet there.
So bear with me - more sketches coming soon. I want to still do some more daily drawings, just don't know when I'll have a week to do it soon. Stay tuned.

Be Outrageous.

Power update

Got a mean joke yesterday, power came back on after 25+ hours of having it off (while a snow AND Ice storm)  and we were so happy to have warm running water again. We blissfully went to sleep last night (Still didn't have internet on though) and then we woke (nearly crying) to the power off again. Because of all the melting snow and ice, the ground was very soft and we had some strong winds that blew many trees on top of power lines. It has been reported that we won't get it back until Monday or Tuesday.... =( Prayers would be appreciated.

The way I am able to write this is that we are at a family friends place that have a generator. I can't go on with my daily drawings because I don't have a way to upload pictures. So I'll post whatever I draw this week and give it all in a big batch next week. Thank you so much for your patience and prayers.

Much love to all!
-B

(The way I was able to post last night was on my mom's phone - but I could only write in the title subject - so sorry!)

Work in progress

(I've updated this project further, see here)

Medium: HB pencil

This is a work in progress (as you already gathered from the title of this post, and most likely looking at my little, unfinished sketch. Also, this is really, really blurry and bland looking, that would be the 7yo cameras falt), I want to go farther with it and add some background to it, as well as complete her hand... any ideas of what I can do with it? I'm thinking now her hand can be touching something (tree... reaching for the sky...)... Something like that. Happy Sketches everyone!

Up Date:
Reignie is on the mend, starting to look like herself again. Thank you all for your kind words and prayers. They are working.

Up date

Reignie is doing better - not completely healed but better. After $815 she should anyhow (shocking huh... I don't know how we can afford this - so many mixed emotions!). She is home which takes a huge burden off of my shoulders and on meds.

She's not out of the woods yet, is still not her self but I have hope. Thanks for the prayers.

Fare welling for a short time... again...

Hey all - just thought I would tell you this time that I won't be on blogger, polyvore, goodreads or playlist.com for the month of April (yearly Media Fast - totally recommend it by the way - even for shorter periods of time). I will be back online on May First.
See ya' all then.!

Goodbye for now!

“...and she turned her can’ts into cans, and her dreams into plans.”
(my motto for the month)

(for those who have my email - I will be checking that a few times a week if you really need to contact me)

Spread the Word!

Okay, I'll be honest here... I am always looking to see if Antonia is hosting a giveaway. Why? Because I've never been disappointed (besides the fact that I've never actually *won* any of her stuff). She is creative and uses everyday things to make something like this!

Go to here site to enter (she ships anywhere) and to find out more ways of getting extra points.

Gleaning God of Justice

This is such a amazing, thought thinking song. It totally change my life last year when I heard it in Dinuba Ca. at Gleanings For The Hungry. I encourage you to listen to this song - and I also encourage going to Gleanings.

Brian Jacques - forever to be remembered

"Don't be ashamed to weep; 'tis right to grieve. Tears are only water, and flowers, trees, and fruit cannot grow without water. But there must be sunlight also. A wounded heart will heal in time, and when it does, the memory and love of our lost ones is sealed inside to comfort us."  -BJ
 Died February 5, 2011

I can still remember the first time I picked up Brian Jacques book, Redwall at the age of 12 ("wot, wot"). I was captivated into the first chapter. To this day, I hold the series close to me, as well as his Castaway series that got me hooked on legends and myths.

"I love book signings: kids waiting in line for you to scribble on their new books, haha!" -BJ
To Mr. Jacques, thanks to a man who made childhood something to look back on with found memories, and to put a love of reading into us. For replying to mail - even when later you realize he most likely couldn't even read half of it due to spelling mistakes. For remembering how it was at his age.

To the memory of Brian Jacques. Let the cry of victory ring forth "Eulaliiiaaaaaaaa!"
Prayers and Blessings to the family.

"I am that is, my sword shall wield for me."

47 Years Overdue, Book is Returned to Library

Patron pays $171.32 late fee for “Prince of Egypt”

{from The Associated Press} --- Robert Nuranen handed the local librarian a book he had checked out for a ninth-grade assignment – along with a check for 47 years’ worth of late fees.
Nuranen said his mother misplaced the copy of “Prince of Egypt” while cleaning the house. The family came across it every so often, only to set it aside again. He found it last week while looking through a box in the attic.
“I figured I’d better get it in before we waited another 10 years,” he said after turning it in Friday with the $171.32 check. “Fifty-seven years would be embarrassing.”
The book, with its last due date stamped June 2, 1960, was part of the young Nuranen’s fascination with Egypt. He went on to visit that country and 54 others, and all 50 states, he said, but he never did finish the book.
Nuranen now lives in Los Angeles, where he teaches seventh-grade social studies and language arts.
The library had long ago lost any record of the book, librarian Sue Zubiena said.
“I’m going to use it as a example,” she said. “It’s never to late to return you books.”

This is a article clipped from The Seattle Times, dated Monday, January 8, 2007 … I found it with a bunch of other loose papers in some of my old school bins. It made me laugh and I thought to share it.
