Christmas is almost here...

And music is one the only things that really shout out "holidays!" to me, and also one of the few things that we have around the house (never had many decorations up and haven't done trees for a while. Sad I know, but it's our way of trying to focus on the things that need attention the most...) With that said, I've recently discovered this group, The Annie Moses Band, made of a family Juilliard trained (jealous yet?), and quoting nearly every summery on youtube out there:
"Weave a spectacular blend of pop, classical, and jazz influences to create a new and exciting sound."
Yeah, sound awesome? They're even better, I'm loving listening to them while doing whatever - maybe it's my own way of fantasizing of one day (in another life obviously) going to a school of music and loosing myself (TMI???) in it (I've watched Fame -new and old one- one to many times ;)
Here is me sharing some of my fav's. Enjoy and have a great weekend.

Musician watching commencing...

Medium: HB Pencil

About a week back, I went to a Musician's conference in Redmond, Washington. While there for the weekend, I hung out with super awesome music makers and singers. I got to listen to (and watch!) Paul Baloche, Lincoln Brewster, Norm Stockton, Jonathan Lee, Carl Albrecht, Doyle Dykes and Phil Wickham. If you didn't recognize any of these names - look them up (and Phil Keggy - he was there last year and was AN-MAZ-ING). But with all that said, I didn't really have time to pull out my handy sketch book, but I was able to get this amazing person' (one of the problems with musicians is you can't hardly tell the sex of the person from the back...=P) style. Long overcoat, beanie, scarves, colorful skinny jeans, messengers bag w/ pins and beat up converse, is the theme of all musicians (and yes, for one of the days I wore my own -very beat up- lighting blue converse high tops =)

(sorry for the poor quality of the photo, cellphones are lousily photo-takers)

Phil Keaggy

For sure one of the best guitarist ever. Hearing him in real life is so amazing (last year at CMS)

Woot! CMS is coming!

Myself and my bass will be going to Overlake in November for this. Hurrah!

The Song of Summer

This is the song of summer. Epic. Barefoot Blue Jean Night (Jake Owen)

Get a playlist! Standalone player Get Ringtones

A full moon shinin' bright
Edge of the water; we were feelin' alright
Back down a country road
The girls are always hot, and the beer is ice cold

Cadillac, horns on the hood
My buddy Frankie had his dad hook him up good
Girls smile when we roll by
They hop in the back, and we cruise to the river side

Chorus
(Whoa-oh)
Never gonna grow up
(Whoa-oh)
Never gonna slow down
(Whoa-oh)
We were shinin' like lighters in the dark
In the middle of a rock show
(Whoa-oh)
We were doin' it right
(Whoa-oh)
We were comin' alive
(Whoa-oh)
Yeah, caught up in a Southern summer, barefoot, blue jean night

Blue eyes and auburn hair
Sittin' lookin' pretty by the fire in a lawn chair
New to town, and new to me
Her ruby red lips was sippin' on sweet tea
Shot me in love like a shootin' star
So, I grabbed a beer and my ol' guitar
Then we sat around till the break of dawn
Howlin' and singin' our favorite song

Chorus

Whoa-oh, never gonna grow up
Ha!
Never gonna slow down
We were shinin' like lighters in the dark
In the middle of a rock show
(Whoa-oh)
We were doin' it right
(Whoa-oh)
We were comin' alive
(Whoa-oh)
Yeah, caught up in a Southern summer, barefoot, blue jean night

(Whoa-oh)
Barefoot, blue jean night
(Whoa-oh)
Barefoot, blue jean night
(Whoa-oh)

(I can't decided if I like this song because it's catchy or if it's because I'm hick at heart)
(definition of 'hick' = adjective - located in a rural or culturally unsophisticated area: a hick town)
